DESCRIPTION

The Kingsburg Coastal Conservancy Association assessed the carbon-storage capacity of wetlands in Lunenburg County to demonstrate their importance as natural climate solutions and strengthen the case for their long-term protection. The project incorporated Indigenous traditional and ecological knowledge, completed an inventory and assessment of the Shaubac wetlands, and developed research findings and recommendations on the carbon-sequestration potential of local wetland systems. This work will support future wetland conservation efforts and build broader community understanding of their tremendous climate benefits.
