New Dawn Centre for
Social Innovation

DESCRIPTION

New Dawn Centre for Social Innovation undertook major energy-efficiency upgrades to reduce operating costs and modernize its 38,000-square foot facility, which was built in 1958 and still relied on its original windows and heating system. The Centre, which provides fully occupied space for nonprofits, charities, small businesses, entrepreneurs, and community agencies, replaced its oil-fired hot water furnace with heat pumps, installed an Energy Star–rated hybrid hot water heater, upgraded roof insulation, and replaced aging windows and exterior doors. These improvements have significantly reduced energy use, lowered operating costs, and strengthened the long-term sustainability of a key community hub.
