Circular Solutions for Finfish Aquaculture By-Products

The Aquaculture Association of Nova Scotia explored new circular-economy opportunities for finfish aquaculture by-products in partnership with We’koqma’q First Nation. The work assessed potential local partnerships, tested prototype products made from by-products, and developed standardized data collection guidelines to support long-term monitoring of greenhouse gas emissions. The project will strengthen the sector’s ability to turn waste streams into valuable resources while advancing more sustainable aquaculture practices in the region.
