DESCRIPTION

Société Historique Acadienne de la Baie Sainte Marie carried out site improvements to reduce flooding risks and strengthen the long-term resilience of the first Acadian cemetery and chapel in Clare, an important cultural and heritage site. The project implemented drainage enhancements to minimize future flood impacts and improve overall site durability. Wooden structures were replaced with stone and slate to increase resistance to climate-related wear and reduce maintenance needs. Landscaping with native spruce trees and shrubs helped naturalize the area while contributing to carbon capture and improved environmental resilience.
