DESCRIPTION
The Town of New Glasgow advanced the development of a low-carbon district energy system by exploring the feasibility of a biomass combined heat and power plant and a town-wide biomass district heating network. The project included advanced design and feasibility work to inform the next steps in developing a low-carbon district energy system. This work will strengthen the town’s capacity to pursue a system that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions, support long-term energy affordability, and provide a replicable pathway for other municipalities considering similar low-carbon infrastructure.
