DESCRIPTION

The Community Garden and Foodshare Association of Shelburne County is establishing a carbon-negative community greenhouse on Municipality-provided land to strengthen local food security while reducing the region’s carbon footprint. The year-round facility will supply fresh produce to food-insecure residents and the local food bank, while its renewable energy system returns surplus power to the grid during off-peak hours. The project also functions as a learning hub, partnering with the local community garden, the Community College, and the Regional High School to deliver hands‑on education in sustainable agriculture and climate‑positive practices.
