DESCRIPTION
The Baddeck Improvement Association will develop a coastal resilience plan for the Kidston Island area and the village boardwalk to prepare for rising sea levels and more frequent storm events. The project will bring together partners including ACAP Cape Breton, Cape Breton University, Dalhousie University, and the Bras d’Or Lakes Biosphere to explore nature-based shoreline protection, restore coastal habitat, and improve conditions for local aquatic species. The work will also focus on strengthening collaboration and capacity among community groups. As the project advances, the planned resilience measures will help reduce erosion, protect public infrastructure, enhance access to the waterfront, and generate data and shared learnings to guide future coastal adaptation efforts.
