DESCRIPTION
Bluenose Coastal Action Foundation is constructing a 100-metre living shoreline in Mahone Bay to protect the community from coastal erosion, flooding, and increased stormwater runoff. This nature-based adaptation project uses natural materials and ecological design to stabilize the shoreline, improve water quality, and support healthy coastal habitat. Building on a 60-metre section installed in 2022 with volunteer support, the expanded shoreline will be monitored to assess its long-term effectiveness and ecological benefits.
