DESCRIPTION
The Cheticamp River Atlantic Salmon Association improved fish passage and restored cold-water habitat in the Cheticamp River to help protect one of Nova Scotia’s last healthy spring salmon populations. Warmer water temperatures, lower water levels, and storm-felled trees had created barriers that made it harder for salmon to reach spawning areas. The project strengthened habitat in this species-at-risk watershed and will support the long term survival of wild Atlantic salmon.
