DESCRIPTION

Hope Blooms Youth Social Entrepreneurial Ventures Inc. installed a solar tracker to expand on-site renewable energy generation for its building, greenhouse, and garden irrigation system. Located in Uniacke Square, a historically marginalized community facing significant food insecurity, Hope Blooms relies on these facilities to run youth-led social enterprises and provide community food programs. The solar tracker reduces the organization’s high energy costs, aligns operations with its long-standing commitment to climate stewardship, and strengthens the sustainability of its food-security work. Youth were actively engaged in learning how the system works, building skills in renewable energy and climate action. The project will continue to benefit this community venture by lowering operating costs, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and providing hands-on education that supports future leadership in climate resiliency and green jobs.
