DESCRIPTION

One North End expanded training and mentorship opportunities for young African Nova Scotians by pairing engineers and design professionals with community members interested in deep-energy retrofit careers. The project focused on engagement, design learning, and youth career development connected to the retrofit of the Nroth Preston Daycare Facility. Through workshops, events, site visits, and hands on shadowing, five African Nova Scotian youth were introduced to the sector while the professional team developed a full retrofit plan for the daycare facility. The initiative strengthened community awareness of energy-efficiency opportunities and built long-term capacity for young African Nova Scotians to participate in the growing green-building economy.
