DESCRIPTION
The Town of Antigonish, in partnership with Saint Francis Xavier University, has completed a feasibility study to evaluate whether a community district energy system could provide a low-carbon, least-cost source of thermal energy. The study assessed renewable and residual energy resources, examined system design options, and explored the potential for the project to serve as a national flagship model for community-scale decarbonized heating. With the feasibility work now complete, the Town is using the results to guide next steps, including pursuing additional funding to advance a district energy system that will reduce emissions and support long-term energy affordability for the community.
