Herring Cove Community Centre

DESCRIPTION

The Herring Cove Community Association transformed a long vacant recreation building into a net-zero, energy-efficient community and comfort centre serving residents of Herring Cove and the surrounding area. The renewed facility will now hosts farmers markets, community events, and youth volunteer opportunities, strengthening local connections and expanding access to shared resources. A commercial kitchen provides space for bakers, cooks, and small food entrepreneurs, supporting local food capacity and economic activity. By modernizing an underused asset into a resilient, low-carbon community hub, the project advanced both climate goals and long-term community well-being.
