DESCRIPTION

The Lake Torment Stewardship Association will develop a data-driven water health model to better understand and respond to the rising threat of cyanobacterial (blue green algae) blooms intensified by a warming climate. The project will deploy advanced monitoring tools, collect and consolidate water quality and weather data, and engage local residents in hands-on stewardship and collaborative decision-making. This information will guide future mitigation options while building a long-term, community-supported approach to protecting freshwater ecosystems. By documenting its methods and sharing tools, data, and lessons learned through a dedicated resource hub, the Association will help other lake communities strengthen their own water-health strategies across Nova Scotia.
