DESCRIPTION

The Washbrook Greenway Coalition is designing and constructing a series of constructed wetlands and fully accessible wetland-viewing platforms alongside the Washbrook Greenway active transportation trail in the south end of Sydney. These wetlands will help manage stormwater and reduce localized flooding while enhancing habitat and ecological function along the corridor. The viewing platforms will be fully accessible, creating greater opportunities for people with mobility challenges to experience nature and participate in recreational activities. The project also includes the development of a 1.6-kilometre accessible active transportation pathway, expanding safe, inclusive, and climate-resilient outdoor infrastructure for the community.
